Circuits, hotels, excursions and transfers in El Calafate.
CircuitsHotelsExcursions
El Calafate is the access base for Los Glaciares National Park and the Perito Moreno glacier, one of the few glacier fronts accessible via walkways facing the ice. On the shore of Lake Argentino, it works as the logistics hub of southern Patagonia and the departure point for El Chaltén, the trekking capital. It is a destination of glacier landscapes and Patagonian steppe.
Perito Moreno is accessible year-round, with summer (December–March) as high season for more stable weather and long days. Spring and autumn offer fewer visitors and good scenery. Winter is cold with reduced services, though the glacier remains visitable.
MICE & groups
El Calafate suits small and mid-sized incentive groups, with hotels and lodges equipped for contained meetings rather than large congresses. The glacier setting provides a singular frame for exclusive group experiences.
Incentives
Signature experiences include ice walks (mini-trekking and big ice), cruises among icebergs facing the glacier fronts, and days at Patagonian estancias with lamb asado and rural work. The ice landscape sustains memorable incentives.
Access & logistics
Served by El Calafate airport (FTE), with connections from Buenos Aires-Aeroparque and Patagonian links. The airport is about 20 kilometres from town. From there, roads reach Perito Moreno, El Chaltén and, cross-border, Torres del Paine in Chile.
Trade notes
Budget two to three nights, adding one or two more if including El Chaltén. It combines with Ushuaia and Buenos Aires within Argentina, and cross-border with Torres del Paine and Puerto Natales in Chile. Core of southern Patagonia circuits for international markets.
