CircuitsHotelsExcursions
Arequipa is a city of volcanic sillar stone at the foot of the Misti volcano, with a historic centre declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Santa Catalina Monastery, the colonial mansions and a cuisine of its own give the destination a strongly urban and cultural profile.
The destination also includes the Colca Canyon, with the village of Chivay as a base and the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint as its great landmark. In a programme it works as a stop of two to three nights in the southern Andes, between Lima, Cusco and Puno, and as a gateway to the Colca.
The city receives sunshine almost all year round, with cool nights because of the altitude. The dry season, approximately from April to November, is the most stable for the Colca and the viewpoints; between December and March there are rains, above all in the canyon and the high areas. Condors are best seen first thing in the morning.
MICE & groups
Arequipa is suited to corporate meetings and medium-sized incentive groups, supported by an established urban offer of hotels and restaurants in the centre; for large congresses, capacity should be checked with the local supplier. The Colca, by contrast, is suitable only for small groups, because of its limited accommodation and its altitude.
Incentives
Credible experiences include an exclusive guided visit to the Santa Catalina Monastery, a dinner in a colonial mansion in the centre, an Arequipa cookery class and sunrise at the Cruz del Cóndor. The hot springs and the terraced landscapes of the Colca valley serve as a quiet close for small groups.
Access & logistics
Access is via Arequipa airport (AQP), with domestic connections; air operations should be checked by season. By land it is reached from Cusco, Puno and the southern coast on long journeys. The Colca is reached by road from the city to Chivay, on a journey of several hours with high-altitude passes.
Trade notes
Plan 2 to 3 nights in the city and one or two more if the Colca is included. Combines with Cusco, Puno and Lake Titicaca, and suits cultural and gastronomic markets. Acclimatise in Arequipa before climbing to the Colca, and inform the client of the altitude when putting the itinerary together.

Booking & policies
Are the prices shown net or retail?
Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see an indicative retail “from” price; the net rate is never shown outside the B2B Portal.
What happens after I book?
When you book, we receive your booking and start working on it: it shows as “In process” and we let you know of every update. Vouchers are sent once payments have been received.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations follow Clause 7 of the Terms: more than 30 days before the service, no penalty and a full refund; 15 to 30 days, 25%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 75%; less than 72 hours before commencement or a no-show, 100%. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. The schedule above is indicative: the conditions that apply to each booking are those stated in the quotation, and may be stricter in high season, on public holidays or where a service has its own policy.
Can dates or passenger names be changed after booking?
Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
