Circuits, hotels, excursions and transfers in Cafayate.
CircuitsHotelsExcursions
Cafayate, at the southern end of the Calchaquí Valleys, is one of the best-known wine-growing centres of northwest Argentina, with high-altitude vineyards and an emblematic wine, torrontés. Surrounded by reddish hills and a sunny, dry climate, the town keeps a small centre with a traditional air.
In a programme it is visited from Salta along the Quebrada de las Conchas, a route of rock formations such as the Devil's Throat and the Amphitheatre, and it can be extended northwards through the Calchaquí Valleys to Cachi and its villages.
Cafayate is a destination with good weather almost all year round, with many hours of sunshine and little rain. Summer is hot and may bring storms in the gorges; the harvest, towards the end of summer and in autumn, is the liveliest time for wine tourism. In winter the days are pleasant and the nights cold.
MICE & groups
Cafayate is suited only to small incentive groups and meetings on an intimate scale, not to congresses, given the limited hotel and meeting-room capacity and the distance from Salta airport. Its strength is the setting of wineries, vineyards and landscape, not convention infrastructure.
Incentives
Credible incentive experiences include tastings and lunches at high-altitude wineries, dinners among the vineyards, the route through the Quebrada de las Conchas with panoramic stops, horse or cycling rides among the crops and Calchaquí culture in the villages of the valleys. Together they offer a wine-tourism and landscape programme with its own character.
Access & logistics
It is reached only by road, normally from Salta (SLA), along the route that crosses the Quebrada de las Conchas; it is a long journey, of several hours with stops, and it is also possible to arrive from Tucumán via Tafí del Valle. The condition of the roads in the rainy season should be checked and transfers planned with a margin.
Trade notes
Plan 2 nights, and a third day if the Calchaquí Valleys towards Cachi are also to be covered. Attracts wine-tourism travellers, couples and small groups with cultural interests, and is usually included in a northwest circuit with Salta and the Quebrada de Humahuaca. Book wineries in advance in the harvest season.

Booking & policies
Are the prices shown net or retail?
Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see an indicative retail “from” price; the net rate is never shown outside the B2B Portal.
What happens after I book?
When you book, we receive your booking and start working on it: it shows as “In process” and we let you know of every update. Vouchers are sent once payments have been received.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations follow Clause 7 of the Terms: more than 30 days before the service, no penalty and a full refund; 15 to 30 days, 25%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 75%; less than 72 hours before commencement or a no-show, 100%. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. The schedule above is indicative: the conditions that apply to each booking are those stated in the quotation, and may be stricter in high season, on public holidays or where a service has its own policy.
Can dates or passenger names be changed after booking?
Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
