Transfer from the hotel in Pucón to Parque Nacional Villarrica (14.5 km). Hike between 1,000 and 1,300 metres above sea level with about 2.5 hours of exploration at the highest point, where participants can view Caburgua and Huelipilun lakes, the Llaima volcano, the Sollipulli snowfields, Villarrica Lake and nearby volcanoes such as Quetrupillán and Lanín.
The route alternates lenga forest and Andean grasslands. At the highest point there are six small inactive volcanic craters, 5 to 10 metres in diameter; some are eroded while others remain clearly visible. The route shows folds formed by lava flows and low caverns created by ground subsidence. After a thematic explanation on volcanology and the activity of Villarrica volcano, the return descent follows a dry lava canyon to the transfer point and then back to the hotel in Pucón after approximately 1.5 hours of gentle walking.
