A ten-day journey bringing together Peru's Amazon and Andes, with a luxury cruise.

It begins with two nights in Lima and a tour of the colonial and modern city. It continues with a flight to Iquitos and a three-night cruise aboard the Zafiro, in first-deck suites, along the Ucayali, Yarapa and Amazon rivers and the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, with pink and grey dolphins, fishing and night excursions. It goes on with a flight to Cusco (with a stopover in Lima) and four nights between the imperial city and the Sacred Valley: the Koricancha, the Cathedral and Sacsayhuamán; the Sacred Valley with Pisac and Ollantaytambo; and Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, by train. Accommodation is offered in several categories and the excursions are run with guides.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day1

Day 1: Arrival in Lima

Arrival in Lima. Reception and assistance at the airport and a private transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Lima.
Day2

Day 2: Colonial and modern Lima

Breakfast at the hotel. Half-day tour of colonial and modern Lima: a panoramic view of Huaca Pucllana, a ceremonial and archaeological site from the 4th century AD; the historic centre with the Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the Municipal Palace and Lima Cathedral; and the Santo Domingo convent, with its 16th-century baroque façade, where the remains of Santa Rosa de Lima and San Martín de Porres rest. Overnight in Lima.
Day3

Day 3: Lima / Iquitos — Nauta and Pahuashiro

At the indicated time, transfer to the airport for the flight to Iquitos (arrival before 12:00 is recommended). Pick-up at the airport and a private-vehicle transfer to Nauta to embark; a box lunch is provided along the way. The crew shows you to your suite, fitted with comfortable beds, pima cotton sheets, robes, air conditioning and a private bathroom. Before setting sail, a welcome cocktail made with regional fruits and pisco, to enjoy from the 360° observation area or the lounge. As the vessel gets under way, the naturalist guides present the programme, the routes and information on the wildlife and vegetation. Aperitif and time to rest; at dusk, a night launch excursion in search of caimans, tarantulas, frogs and other species. Overnight aboard the cruise. Meals: breakfast, box lunch and dinner.
Day4

Day 4: Ucayali River — Yanallpa, Tapiche and Dorado River

Before breakfast, a launch excursion around Yanallpa del Ucayali (Ucayali River), within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, spotting native wildlife. After breakfast, another launch outing to the Tapiche River in search of wildlife. Back on board, a cooking demonstration by the executive chef. After lunch, a talk on the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve and, in the afternoon, a launch excursion to the Dorado River to fish with local techniques. Before returning to the vessel, a night excursion in search of caimans, tarantulas and frogs. Dinner on board. Overnight aboard the cruise. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day5

Day 5: Yarapa River, the Amazon and the Tahuayo River

After breakfast, a launch excursion along the black-water Yarapa River, where freshwater pink and grey dolphins swim. Return to the Zafiro to see the confluence of the Ucayali and Marañón rivers, which gives rise to the Amazon. After lunch, a launch outing on the Amazon, observing the everyday life of the riverside communities and the colours of the Amazonian sunset. Live music, a crew presentation and a farewell dinner. Overnight aboard the cruise. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day6

Day 6: Iquitos / Cusco

Visit to the River Mammal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (Amazon Forever organisation), where rescued manatees are cared for. At the indicated time, transfer to the airport for the flight to Cusco (with a stopover in Lima). Reception and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Cusco. Meals: breakfast.
Day7

Day 7: Cusco — city and archaeological park

Breakfast. In the afternoon, a tour of Cusco's pre-Hispanic and colonial heritage: the Koricancha, the former Temple of the Sun over which the Santo Domingo convent stands; the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral, with altars, wood carvings and Cusco School paintings; and, on the outskirts, the Sacsayhuamán fortress, the Kenko shrine, the Puka Pukará lookout post and Tambomachay, known as the 'Baths of the Inca'. Overnight in Cusco. Meals: breakfast.
Day8

Day 8: Sacred Valley of the Incas

Breakfast. Full-day excursion through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. First stop at Pisac, with its artisan market and the hilltop archaeological site of agricultural terraces and Inca temples. Continue to Urubamba for a buffet lunch at a hacienda restaurant. In the afternoon, a visit to the Ollantaytambo fortress, a bastion of Inca resistance. Transfer to the hotel in the Sacred Valley. Overnight in the Sacred Valley. Meals: breakfast and lunch.
Day9

Day 9: Machu Picchu

Breakfast. Transfer to the train station and a scenic train ride through Andean landscapes to Aguas Calientes. From there, a bus climbs to the Machu Picchu citadel, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, to explore its precincts and admire the Inca architecture. Lunch in Aguas Calientes and return train to Cusco. Overnight in Cusco. Meals: breakfast and lunch.
Day10

Day 10: Cusco / Lima

Breakfast. At the indicated time, transfer to the airport for the return flight to Lima. Meals: breakfast.

Booking & policies

Are the prices shown net or retail?

Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see an indicative retail “from” price; the net rate is never shown outside the agency portal.

How is a booking confirmed?

Most bookings are confirmed immediately and the voucher is emailed within minutes. When a service shows “In process”, RUMBO LIBRE is confirming final availability with the receptive operator at destination — usually within 24 to 48 business hours.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations follow Clause 7 of the Terms: more than 30 days before the service, no penalty and a full refund; 15 to 30 days, 25%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 75%; less than 72 hours before commencement or a no-show, 100%. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. The schedule above is indicative: the conditions that apply to each booking are those confirmed in the quotation, and may be stricter in high season, on public holidays or where a supplier applies its own policy.

Can dates or passenger names be changed after confirmation?

Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed with the receptive operator subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
