Circuits Hotels Excursions

Chiclayo is the capital of the Lambayeque region, on the northern coast of Peru, and the starting point for discovering the legacy of the Moche, Sicán and Lambayeque cultures. Around it are the Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum, the pyramids of Túcume and the Sicán National Museum, as well as the Huaca Rajada complex, where the tomb of the Lord of Sipán was found.

In a programme it works as an archaeological and gastronomic extension from Lima or Trujillo, a complement for those who already know the classic Peru circuit.

Destination guide for the trade

When to go

Chiclayo can be visited all year round thanks to its warm, very dry coastal climate. From April to November temperatures are milder and more comfortable for touring open-air archaeological sites; from December to March it is hotter and exceptional rains linked to the El Niño phenomenon may occur. The middle hours of the day should be avoided when visiting the huacas.

MICE & groups

Chiclayo is suitable for small and medium-sized groups that value cultural content, and not for large congresses: the city offers mid-range and upper-category hotels and medium-scale meeting rooms, and its appeal lies in the archaeological heritage and the gastronomy. It works better as a cultural extension within a broader agenda.

Incentives

Credible incentive experiences include a guided visit to the Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum, a tour of the pyramids of Túcume at sunset, a tasting or cooking class of northern cuisine, with dishes such as arroz con pato or cabrito, and a visit to craft workshops and local markets. They offer cultural and gastronomic content for small groups.

Access & logistics

Access is via Chiclayo airport (CIX), with flights from Lima of approximately an hour and a half, or by road from Trujillo and the northern coast along the Pan-American Highway. The archaeological sites and museums in the surrounding area are reached by road on short transfers from the city. Air operations should be checked by season.

Trade notes

Plan 2 nights, with one day for Sipán and Lambayeque and another for Túcume and Ferreñafe. It is linked with Lima, Trujillo and the northern coast on a route of pre-Inca cultures. Suits clients with archaeological and gastronomic interests, above all European and North American travellers who already know the Cusco and Machu Picchu circuit.

Booking & policies

Are the prices shown net or retail?

Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see an indicative retail “from” price; the net rate is never shown outside the B2B Portal.

What happens after I book?

When you book, we receive your booking and start working on it: it shows as “In process” and we let you know of every update. Vouchers are sent once payments have been received.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations follow Clause 7 of the Terms: more than 30 days before the service, no penalty and a full refund; 15 to 30 days, 25%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 75%; less than 72 hours before commencement or a no-show, 100%. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. The schedule above is indicative: the conditions that apply to each booking are those stated in the quotation, and may be stricter in high season, on public holidays or where a service has its own policy.

Can dates or passenger names be changed after booking?

Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
