Circuits Hotels Excursions

Easter Island (Rapa Nui) is one of the most remote inhabited places on earth and a first-order cultural destination, famed for its moai and ceremonial platforms. The island combines Polynesian archaeology, volcanoes, cliffs and beaches within a compact, drivable territory.

Within a Chilean program it works as a high-value extension from Santiago, with an unhurried pace built around sites such as Ahu Tongariki, Rano Raraku and Orongo. It requires early planning given limited air capacity.

Destination guide for the trade

When to go

Easter Island is a year-round destination with a subtropical climate and rain possible in any season. The southern summer (December–March) is warmer and more humid; the rest of the year is mild. The Tapati festival, around February, is the major cultural highlight and raises demand.

MICE & groups

The island suits small, high-end incentive groups rather than large congresses, given its limited hotel and air capacity. Its value lies in cultural exclusivity and isolation, not convention infrastructure. It is best programmed for compact groups with carefully managed logistics.

Incentives

Credible incentive experiences include private, out-of-hours visits to moai sites, sunrises at Ahu Tongariki, tours with Rapa Nui guides and cultural immersion around Polynesian tradition. The island's intimate scale favours memorable, privileged-access experiences.

Access & logistics

Reached only by air at Mataveri airport (IPC), with flights from Santiago (SCL) of roughly five and a half hours. There are no alternative scheduled connections, so programming depends on air availability. Internal transfers are short, with the island drivable by road.

Trade notes

Budget at least three nights given flight frequency and the destination's pace. It works as an extension from Santiago and fits culturally minded, long-haul clients. Book well ahead, especially around Tapati.
