Circuits, hotels, excursions and transfers in Puno.
CircuitsHotelsExcursions
Puno is the Peruvian city on the shore of Lake Titicaca, at almost four thousand metres above sea level, on the altiplano that Peru shares with Bolivia. It is the base for visiting the floating islands of the Uros, the islands of Taquile and Amantaní and the funerary towers of Sillustani, in a setting with a strong Quechua and Aymara identity.
In a Peru programme it works as a stage of the southern Andean circuit, between Cusco and Arequipa, and as a cultural close after Machu Picchu. The altitude calls for gradual acclimatisation and a moderate pace.
The dry season, from May to September, brings sunny, clear days, though with very cold nights; it is the most recommended period for excursions on the lake. From December to March the rains arrive, with greener landscapes and fewer visitors. In February the festival of the Virgen de la Candelaria is held, recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage; it concentrates demand and requires booking well in advance.
MICE & groups
Puno is suitable for small and medium-sized groups, above all as a stage within a broader programme rather than as the main venue for large congresses. The altitude and the city's hotel offer suggest short, well-acclimatised meetings. Its value lies in the cultural and scenic setting of the lake rather than in convention infrastructure.
Incentives
Credible incentive experiences include a private boat trip on Lake Titicaca, a visit to the Uros islands and to Taquile, a night with local families on Amantaní and a visit to Sillustani at sunset. They are experiences of direct cultural contact, suited to small groups interested in Andean traditions.
Access & logistics
Access is via Juliaca airport (JUL), about an hour by road from Puno, with air connections from Lima and Cusco that should be checked by season. Puno can also be reached overland from Cusco and Arequipa, on journeys of one day, or by the tourist train between Cusco and Puno. Excursions on the lake leave by launch from the city's port.

Booking & policies
Are the prices shown net or retail?
Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see an indicative retail “from” price; the net rate is never shown outside the B2B Portal.
What happens after I book?
When you book, we receive your booking and start working on it: it shows as “In process” and we let you know of every update. Vouchers are sent once payments have been received.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations follow Clause 7 of the Terms: more than 30 days before the service, no penalty and a full refund; 15 to 30 days, 25%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 75%; less than 72 hours before commencement or a no-show, 100%. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. The schedule above is indicative: the conditions that apply to each booking are those stated in the quotation, and may be stricter in high season, on public holidays or where a service has its own policy.
Can dates or passenger names be changed after booking?
Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
