The route covers around 225 km round trip: it skirts the Gutiérrez and Mascardi lakes along Ruta 40 and then follows roughly 40 km of single-lane gravel road into the mountains to the Pampa Linda area, with stops at the Mascardi lake viewpoint, the Devil's Throat and the Ventisquero Negro, a moraine glacier descending from Cerro Tronador. The gravel section operates under directional traffic windows, which set the day's ascent and descent times. The assigned vehicle is a tourism car with driver; for groups of more than 3 passengers a SUV or Minivan is assigned subject to availability at the time of booking.
