Fortaleza travel guide
Fortaleza, capital of Ceará, is one of the largest cities in northeastern Brazil and a year-round sun-and-beach destination. Its long urban coastline is paired with a lively atmosphere, good seafood and a strategic position as a base for excursions to the dunes and beaches of Jericoacoara and Canoa Quebrada. It is a useful gateway for building a northeastern beach circuit.

What to do in Fortaleza
- Canoa Quebrada approx. 9 h A full day along the east coast; red cliffs and buggies.
- Cumbuco and its dunes approx. 5 h Closer than Canoa and with a lagoon; a good half-day option.
- Jericoacoara approx. 9 h Not a day trip: it needs its own transfer and at least one night.
- Morro Branco and Praia das Fontes approx. 9 h Coloured cliffs and sand labyrinths east of the city; a full day with lunch.
- A sunset catamaran off Beira Mar approx. 2 h It leaves from the seafront, so no transfer is needed; an hour and a half on the water.
- Lagoinha approx. 9 h Dunes and coconut palms on the west coast; the calmer alternative to Canoa Quebrada.
- Beach Park approx. 8 h The region's water park; it solves a day with children, and it is full in January and July.

When to go
The dry season runs from August to December, with plenty of sun and little rain; January to July is wetter. Temperatures stay warm year-round.
How many days
Two or three nights in the city, or more if used as a base for excursions to the nearby beaches.
What not to miss
Praia do Futuro, the Dragão do Mar cultural centre, the Central Market, the Beira Mar promenade, and trips to Jericoacoara and Canoa Quebrada.

Five beach nights with the resort zone chosen first: Aquiraz, Cumbuco, Porto das Dunas and Taíba are different transfer products and not interchangeable.

Practical and operational
Jericoacoara needs its own transfer and at least one night; selling it as a day trip from Fortaleza is the destination's classic mistake.

Are the prices shown net or retail?
Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see an indicative retail “from” price; the net rate is never shown outside the agency portal.
How is a booking confirmed?
Most bookings are confirmed immediately and the voucher is emailed within minutes. When a service shows “In process”, RUMBO LIBRE is confirming final availability with the receptive operator at destination — usually within 24 to 48 business hours.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations follow Clause 7 of the Terms: more than 30 days before the service, no penalty and a full refund; 15 to 30 days, 25%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 75%; less than 72 hours before commencement or a no-show, 100%. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. The schedule above is indicative: the conditions that apply to each booking are those confirmed in the quotation, and may be stricter in high season, on public holidays or where a supplier applies its own policy.
Can dates or passenger names be changed after confirmation?
Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed with the receptive operator subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
