Porto de Galinhas is a beach on the southern coast of Pernambuco, in the municipality of Ipojuca, about 60 kilometres from Recife. It is known for its natural pools formed by coral reefs, reached by jangada at low tide, and for its warm sea. The village combines lively streets with restaurants and shops and a long stretch of beach. In a programme it works as a beach extension of Recife, with a family and relaxation profile, and as a base for other beaches on the southern coast.
The climate is tropical and warm all year. From September to March dry days and a calmer sea dominate; between April and August is the rainy season, with more frequent showers and, towards July and August, more wind, which can affect boat outings. The natural pools always depend on the tide and are planned with the tide table.
Three nights work well as a beach extension after Recife: one day for the natural pools, another for the other beaches of the southern coast, and free time in the village. If the programme includes Recife and Olinda, it is wise to place those days before the beach.
The natural pools by jangada, with snorkelling, and Muro Alto beach, where a wall of reef forms a large pool without waves. Add Pontal do Cupe, buggy rides along the coast's beaches and seafood dinners facing the sea, which close a beach day well.
Three nights as a beach extension after Recife for families, couples and leisure groups, with an outing to the natural pools by jangada and time on the beach. It fits well as the close of a Pernambuco programme.
Demand concentrates in the summer holidays and New Year, when the supply of resorts and beach hotels fills up early. Always check availability in advance; for those dates, as far ahead as possible. The pool outings are fixed once the tide table is known.
There is no commercial airport in the village: it is reached by road from Recife in about an hour, longer in high season because of traffic. The natural pool times change each day with the tide, so the outing should be set with the tide table. Sun protection and footwear for reefs.
We arrange the road transfer from Recife airport (REC), about an hour, with contracted local operators and establishments. We schedule the pool outings according to the tide table and leave margin for traffic in high season, when the road can slow down.
Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see a reference “from” price, indicative and subject to availability; the net rate is never shown outside the B2B Portal.
When you book, we receive your booking and start working on it: it shows as “In process” and we let you know of every update. Vouchers are sent once payments have been received.
Cancellations are governed by the conditions stated in each quotation. The standard conditions are: more than 30 days before arrival, the deposit is non-refundable; 30 to 15 days before arrival, 50% of the total price is charged; less than 15 days before arrival or a no-show, 100%. They may vary on peak dates and depend on the policy of each hotel and service. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. Conditions stated in the quotation and accepted by the agency at booking take precedence over the general schedule in Clause 7.1 of the Terms.
Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
