When to travel to Argentina

Which destination suits which month, what to propose and why.

Season by month

Argentina is the country where the month changes the product most: the same month that opens Patagonia closes Bariloche, and the other way round. An agency that treats the country as one season ends up selling the wrong half of it, which is why the table separates the two.

Congresses and incentives

The congress season in Buenos Aires runs March to June and August to November. December to February is low for groups, because the holidays empty the city of its own business population and fill Patagonia with leisure demand. The second window is the stronger one for an incentive that adds Patagonia or Mendoza.

Which destination for each month

Month Where What to offer Why
Jan Puerto Iguazú Two nights in Iguazú plus three in Buenos Aires Patagonia is at its priciest and most booked, and Iguazú absorbs summer demand better.
Feb Buenos Aires Three nights in Buenos Aires plus two in Mendoza The city empties of locals in February, which makes it easier to place than in January.
Mar Mendoza Three nights in Mendoza The grape harvest, and the month the wine region is built around.
Apr El Calafate Three nights in El Calafate plus two in Ushuaia Patagonia's best-value open window: circuits are running and the summer crowds have gone.
May Buenos Aires Four nights in Buenos Aires Low season in the city: the month to sell culture, food and tango rather than landscape.
Jun Bariloche Four nights in Bariloche The ski season opens, ahead of the July domestic peak.
Jul Bariloche Five nights in Bariloche Peak ski and a domestic holiday peak at once: confirm six to eight months ahead.
Aug Bariloche Four nights in Bariloche plus three in Buenos Aires Skiing is still fully open and the city is quiet and at its lowest price level.
Sep Puerto Madryn Three nights in Puerto Madryn Península Valdés as a marine-wildlife destination; the operating window is confirmed at quotation with the Local Supplier.
Oct El Calafate Three nights in El Calafate plus two in Ushuaia Patagonia reopens, with thin crowds and days that are starting to lengthen.
Nov El Calafate Four nights in Patagonia The balance point of the year: full access, mild weather and still without December pricing.
Dec Ushuaia Three nights in Ushuaia plus three in Buenos Aires Peak Patagonia with six to ten months of lead time: the month sells early or it does not sell.
