Brasília travel guide
Brasília, the capital of Brazil since 1960, is a planned city built on the central highlands. Designed by urban planner Lúcio Costa with architecture by Oscar Niemeyer, its Plano Piloto is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its value as an example of 20th-century modernism. Its civic buildings and distinctive layout make it a stop of architectural and political interest within a Brazil programme.

- The Monumental Axis and Niemeyer's buildings approx. 4 h A half-day; Congress, Planalto and the Supreme Court are seen together from the esplanade.
- The Cathedral and Itamaraty approx. 2 h Two hours; confirm the visiting days and hours, which vary by building.
- The JK Memorial approx. 1 h An hour; it explains why the city exists and where the man who ordered it is buried.
- Sunset on Lake Paranoá approx. 2 h The city from its lake at the end of the day; it leaves from the marina, near the hotels.
- The Dom Bosco sanctuary approx. 1 h Blue glass from floor to ceiling; it is at its best in the late afternoon.
- Dinner at the Pontão do Lago Sul approx. 3 h Where the city eats by the water; it works for an arrival or a last evening.

When to go
The dry season runs from May to September, with clear skies and low humidity; October to April is wetter. The climate is mild thanks to the altitude.
How many days
One or two days are enough to see the main buildings and monuments.
What not to miss
The National Congress, the Cathedral of Brasília, the Square of the Three Powers, the JK Memorial and the Itamaraty Palace.
What to offer and why
One to two nights, as a stop between the Southeast and the Northeast or as the civic half of a congress programme. With an architecture guide, the half-day is worth twice a generic tour.

Two to four weeks, and a little more when the political or congress calendar fills the city.
Practical and operational
The monumental buildings have visiting days and hours that vary from one to the next: the itinerary is built around them, not the reverse. Distances between sectors are long and always by vehicle.

Are the prices shown net or retail?
Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see an indicative retail “from” price; the net rate is never shown outside the agency portal.
How is a booking confirmed?
Most bookings are confirmed immediately and the voucher is emailed within minutes. When a service shows “In process”, RUMBO LIBRE is confirming final availability with the receptive operator at destination — usually within 24 to 48 business hours.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations follow Clause 7 of the Terms: more than 30 days before the service, no penalty and a full refund; 15 to 30 days, 25%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 75%; less than 72 hours before commencement or a no-show, 100%. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. The schedule above is indicative: the conditions that apply to each booking are those confirmed in the quotation, and may be stricter in high season, on public holidays or where a supplier applies its own policy.
Can dates or passenger names be changed after confirmation?
Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed with the receptive operator subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
