Manaus travel guide
Manaus is the capital of Amazonas state and the main gateway to the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. Set on the banks of the Rio Negro, it combines rubber-boom heritage — including the famous Amazon Theatre — with access to jungle lodges upriver. Just nearby lies the Meeting of Waters, where the Rio Negro and the Solimões run side by side without mixing. It is the natural base for adding an Amazon experience to a Brazil programme.

What to do in Manaus
- Meeting of the Waters approx. 4 h The Negro and the Solimões run side by side without mixing; a half-day by boat.
- Amazon Theatre approx. 2 h The rubber boom's opera house downtown; it fits the arrival or departure afternoon.
- Presidente Figueiredo waterfalls approx. 9 h A full day overland; the alternative to a lodge for a client with a single night.
- Rubber museum and indigenous immersion approx. 4 h The human side of the Amazon, which a wildlife lodge does not cover.
- A river cruise on the Rio Negro Two or three nights aboard, sleeping on the river; sold by cabin and booked far ahead.
- Anavilhanas and the pink dolphins at Novo Airão approx. 10 h A full day upriver through the archipelago; swimming with the dolphins is no longer allowed.
- Sunset on the Rio Negro approx. 3 h A short boat at the end of the day; the least demanding way to be on the river.
- The Janauary park and its giant water lilies approx. 4 h Flooded forest by canoe; the water level decides month by month what is reachable.

When to go
The dry season, July to December, brings lower water levels, better for hiking and wildlife viewing. Rains are heaviest from December to May; heat and humidity are constant year-round.
How many days
Three or four nights are recommended, pairing the city with a two- or three-night stay at a jungle lodge.

The Meeting of Waters, the Amazon Theatre, boat trips on the Rio Negro, the Anavilhanas archipelago and rainforest excursions.
What to offer and why
The city is the gateway, not the destination: one night in Manaus and three or four in a lodge. The month decides the product — walking and river beaches in the dry season, canoeing the flooded forest at high water — and the client should hear it from you, not discover it at the jetty.
When to book
Four to six months for June, July and August. In the Parintins Festival window, six to ten, because both compete for the same flight and boat capacity.
Practical and operational
Lodge transfers run on river schedules rather than road ones: a late arrival can cost a whole day of the programme. Manaus is also the departure point for Parintins.

Are the prices shown net or retail?
Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see an indicative retail “from” price; the net rate is never shown outside the agency portal.
How is a booking confirmed?
Most bookings are confirmed immediately and the voucher is emailed within minutes. When a service shows “In process”, RUMBO LIBRE is confirming final availability with the receptive operator at destination — usually within 24 to 48 business hours.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations follow Clause 7 of the Terms: more than 30 days before the service, no penalty and a full refund; 15 to 30 days, 25%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 75%; less than 72 hours before commencement or a no-show, 100%. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. The schedule above is indicative: the conditions that apply to each booking are those confirmed in the quotation, and may be stricter in high season, on public holidays or where a supplier applies its own policy.
Can dates or passenger names be changed after confirmation?
Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed with the receptive operator subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
