Villa La Angostura is a mountain village on the northern shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi, in the province of Neuquén and within the area of the Nahuel Huapi National Park. Andean-Patagonian forests, very clear lakes and timber-and-stone architecture define a serene, small-scale destination. In a programme it works as a quiet alternative to Bariloche and as a natural stop on the Seven Lakes Route; the Quetrihué peninsula, with its arrayán forest, lies in its territory.
It can be visited all year round, each season with a different profile. Summer (December to March) is the season for lakes, trails and boat trips; winter, with snowfall between July and September, brings the skiers to Cerro Bayo. Spring and autumn are quieter, with the forest in reddish tones in autumn, although the weather is variable and rain falls in late autumn and early spring.
Two to three nights, on their own or as part of a lakes circuit. They cover the arrayán forest, lakes Correntoso and Espejo and a spare day. If the village is a stage of the Seven Lakes Route between Bariloche and San Martín de los Andes, two nights allow it to be done unhurriedly.
The Quetrihué peninsula and its arrayán forest, which can be explored on foot or by boat; lakes Correntoso and Espejo; the Seven Lakes Route towards San Martín de los Andes; and, in winter, the snow at Cerro Bayo. The arrayán forest is a national park in its own right, with trees more than 650 years old.
Two to three nights on the lakeshore, with one day for the arrayán forest and another for the lakes and surroundings: the private version of the lakes region. As a stage of the Seven Lakes Route, it organises the journey between Bariloche and San Martín de los Andes.
Demand concentrates in January, February and July, when holidays coincide with the lake and snow seasons. Always check availability in advance; for those dates, as far ahead as possible. Spring and autumn are the village's quietest seasons, when availability is easier.
There is no commercial airport of its own: the village is reached from Bariloche on a transfer of a little over an hour, or from San Martín de los Andes along Route 40. It is a small centre plus several scattered lakeside areas, so a badly located hotel adds transfers. In winter, check the snow on the roads.
We coordinate walks, boat trips and transfers with licensed local operators and establishments. The village has no commercial airport and its lakeside areas are scattered, so we confirm transfers well in advance and, in winter, the state of the roads and the snow.
Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see a reference “from” price, indicative and subject to availability; the net rate is never shown outside the B2B Portal.
When you book, we receive your booking and start working on it: it shows as “In process” and we let you know of every update. Vouchers are sent once payments have been received.
Cancellations are governed by the conditions stated in each quotation. The standard conditions are: more than 30 days before arrival, the deposit is non-refundable; 30 to 15 days before arrival, 50% of the total price is charged; less than 15 days before arrival or a no-show, 100%. They may vary on peak dates and depend on the policy of each hotel and service. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. Conditions stated in the quotation and accepted by the agency at booking take precedence over the general schedule in Clause 7.1 of the Terms.
Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
