FORTALEZA - BRASIL
Fortaleza is the capital of Ceará state, in northeastern Brazil, on the Atlantic coast. The city has urban beaches such as Praia do Futuro, known for its seafront barracas, alongside the Meireles and Beira-Mar coastal area. It also serves as a starting point for the beaches along the Ceará coast.
Lodging is concentrated in Meireles and Aldeota, with mid-range and upper-tier hotels near the shore; Praia do Futuro adds beachfront resorts and hotels. For coastal stays, Canoa Quebrada and Jericoacoara have their own accommodation.
The most sought-after beach destinations are far from the city: Jericoacoara requires several hours of travel and a final leg by 4x4 vehicle over sand. Arrange transfers in advance and allow ample time between points along the coast.
