Ushuaia travel guide
Ushuaia is Argentina's southernmost city, wedged between the Beagle Channel and the Fuegian mountains. It is the gateway to Tierra del Fuego National Park and the main departure port for Antarctica in the austral summer. Its "end of the world" label sums up what it offers: extreme nature in an accessible setting.

- The Beagle Channel and the Les Éclaireurs lighthouse approx. 4 h A half-day on the water; it depends on the wind and can be rescheduled.
- Tierra del Fuego National Park approx. 5 h Subantarctic forest and bays; gentle, well-marked trails.
- The Escondido and Fagnano lakes by 4x4 approx. 9 h A full day inland; the mountain range the town does not show.
- Martillo island and the penguin colony approx. 5 h Only one operator lands on the island, and only from October to March; the quota is small.
- The End of the World Train approx. 2 h A short ride into the park on the old prison line; it suits clients who do not walk.
- King crab at the port approx. 2 h Centolla straight from the channel; the one local dish worth a dinner.

When to go
The austral summer (November to March) brings long days, better weather and the Beagle cruises and Antarctic departures. Winter (June to August) brings snow and the season for Nordic skiing and snow activities.
How many days
Two to three days allow you to combine Tierra del Fuego National Park, a Beagle Channel cruise and the End of the World Train. An Antarctic embarkation requires planning and its own days, separate from the city stay.

The Beagle Channel cruise to the Les Eclaireurs lighthouse and the sea lion island; Tierra del Fuego National Park; the End of the World Train; and, from November to March, the penguins of Martillo Island.
What to offer and why
Two to three nights as the southern end of a Patagonian programme, not as an isolated destination. The channel on day one and the park on day two order the stay well; the 4x4 lakes are for a client with an extra night.
When to book
Six to ten months for December, January and February, when it competes with the Antarctic season for the same beds and the same flights.
Practical and operational
Weather closes the channel at short notice: a single night leaves no room to re-run a cancelled sailing. In winter the days are very short and the itinerary has to account for it.

We coordinate cruises, excursions and transfers with licensed local suppliers and sell net rates to the agency. Beagle departures depend on weather and sea conditions, so we leave a margin in the schedule.

Are the prices shown net or retail?
Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see an indicative retail “from” price; the net rate is never shown outside the agency portal.
How is a booking confirmed?
Most bookings are confirmed immediately and the voucher is emailed within minutes. When a service shows “In process”, RUMBO LIBRE is confirming final availability with the receptive operator at destination — usually within 24 to 48 business hours.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations follow Clause 7 of the Terms: more than 30 days before the service, no penalty and a full refund; 15 to 30 days, 25%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 75%; less than 72 hours before commencement or a no-show, 100%. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. The schedule above is indicative: the conditions that apply to each booking are those confirmed in the quotation, and may be stricter in high season, on public holidays or where a supplier applies its own policy.
Can dates or passenger names be changed after confirmation?
Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed with the receptive operator subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
