LIMA - PERÚ
Capital of Peru and the main air gateway into the country. It combines the colonial Centro Histórico, Lima's cuisine and a Pacific coastal front, with the Miraflores clifftop promenade. It serves as a base for connections to Cusco, Arequipa and the south.
For lodging, Miraflores is the most practical first-stay area: a wide hotel offer, restaurants and straightforward airport transfers. San Isidro is the financial district, quiet and corporate in profile, with upper-tier hotels. Adjacent Barranco has a bohemian character with nightlife and boutique options.
Operationally, plan at least one night in Lima on international arrival or departure, given the distance between the airport (Callao) and the visitor districts and the city's usual traffic.
Useful information
Access Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM), about 15 to 20 km from Miraflores: a 45 to 70 minute transfer depending on traffic. Peru's main gateway and a hub for Cusco and Arequipa.
Season Summer (December to March) is sunny; the rest of the year brings the coastal grey sky (garúa). A workable starting point year-round.
