Macuco Trail and San Martín Island
Hike along the Macuco Trail to Salto Arrechea and a visit to San Martín Island inside Iguazú National Park (Argentine side), with guide. A nature route through the subtropical rainforest.
The route goes into the rainforest along the Macuco Trail, a pedestrian path of about 7 kilometres round trip that starts behind the park's train station. Among the foliage appear the six interpretive stations and, with luck and silence, the capuchin monkeys that live in the area. The trail ends at Salto Arrechea, a 23-metre fall over the stream of the same name, where a natural pool of clear water forms.
When the level of the Iguazú river allows, you cross by boat to San Martín Island, in the centre of the canyon, from where several falls can be seen head-on and up close. The hike is accompanied by a guide, who sets the pace and points out the wildlife and vegetation along the stations. As a private service, the timing adjusts to your group.
