High Andes — Cordillera de los Andes
Full-day excursion through the Cordillera de los Andes from Mendoza, shared service with guide. Follows Route 7 to Puente del Inca and the Aconcagua viewpoint.
The day follows Route 7 from Mendoza towards the border with Chile, gaining altitude through landscapes that shift from valley to high mountain. The first stops are the Potrerillos reservoir and the Uspallata valley; further on comes Puente del Inca, an ochre-toned rock formation spanning the Las Cuevas river. The high point of the day is the Aconcagua viewpoint, facing the 6,959-metre peak.
In summer, and when the road allows, the route climbs to the Cristo Redentor de los Andes, at 3,832 metres, on the border with Chile. The guide accompanies the day explaining the geography and the history of the mountain crossing. The return to Mendoza descends by the same route as the afternoon closes.
