Laguna Nimez Reserve — bird watching

Private visit to the Laguna Nimez Reserve in El Calafate for bird watching, with guide. A walk along the interpretive trail on the shore of Lago Argentino.

A few minutes from the centre of El Calafate, the Laguna Nimez Reserve stretches between the lagoon and the shore of Lago Argentino. The 3-kilometre trail runs flat, with signs identifying each species and observation platforms close to the water.

Between spring and summer the austral flamingos use the lagoon as a feeding area, and their pink colour stands out over the water alongside black-necked swans, cauquenes and wild ducks. Accompanied by a guide, the pace is unhurried, meant for stopping at each viewpoint and identifying the birds in detail.

Operational notes

The presence of austral flamingos is concentrated in spring and summer. Groups of more than 3 passengers: SUV or Minivan. Guide included. Available languages to be arranged at the time of booking.
