Escondido and Fagnano Lakes by 4x4
Shared full-day 4x4 excursion (about 7 hours) to Escondido and Fagnano lakes, with a guide. Combines National Route 3, Paso Garibaldi and off-road sections.
The outing leaves Ushuaia along National Route 3, which climbs towards Paso Garibaldi with views over the Carbajal Valley and the mountain range. From there the 4x4 vehicles leave the tarmac and advance over dirt and mud tracks, crossing stretches of Fuegian forest that can only be reached with four-wheel drive.
Lago Escondido appears first, small and hemmed in by mountains; further on Lago Fagnano opens out, vast, its waters fading towards the horizon. On the shore of the Fagnano there is a break with a snack of cold cuts and cheeses. A guide accompanies the route and explains the geography and vegetation of the area.
Operational notes
The off-road sections depend on terrain and weather conditions and may change. Not recommended for people with back or neck problems, pregnant women or those with reduced mobility. Guide included. Available languages to be arranged at the time of booking.
