Martial Glacier — chairlift and hike
Half-day private excursion to the Martial Glacier circuit above Ushuaia, with guide. It combines a climb up the Martial range slope and a mountain-trail hike with views of the Beagle Channel.
The route leaves Ushuaia and climbs Luis Fernando Martial avenue to the base of the Martial range, about seven kilometres from the centre. From there the ascent up the slope begins, with the city and the Beagle Channel opening up behind as you gain altitude.
The hike follows mountain trails through lenga forest and peat bog up to the viewpoints overlooking the glacial cirque. The terrain has a firm gradient with sections of loose rock, where wind and temperature change quickly. The guide accompanies the whole route and sets the pace according to the group.
Operational notes
Mountain activity subject to weather conditions; with strong wind or snow the chairlift may not run and the ascent is done on foot. Trekking footwear and warm clothing required.
