Whale watching in Puerto Pirámides
Southern right whale watching boat trip from Puerto Pirámides, in Península Valdés. Season runs June to December, with an approximate duration of 90 minutes.
Boarding takes place on the beach at Puerto Pirámides, from where the boat heads out into the Golfo Nuevo. During the roughly ninety-minute navigation, southern right whales appear at close range: mothers with their calves, breaches and flippers rising above the surface. Between June and September it is common to see mating groups, with several individuals active around a single female.
The V-shaped blow and the raised tail before diving are the signals the operator follows to bring the boat within the permitted distances. Departure depends on the state of the sea and the tide of the day, so the time is confirmed according to conditions.
Operational notes
