Gaiman — Welsh village and Welsh tea

Private tour to Gaiman from Puerto Madryn, with guide, to visit the Welsh village in the Chubut valley and take Welsh tea at one of its tea houses. About 80 km from the city.

The road leaves Puerto Madryn and crosses the steppe to the lower Chubut river valley, a green strip of farms and poplar groves that contrasts with the plateau. There lies Gaiman, the village that preserves the legacy of the Welsh settlers who reached Patagonia from 1865: chapels, stone houses, the region's first railway tunnel and the museum that holds objects from that colony.

The tour closes with Welsh tea, served at one of the village's tea houses: home-made bread, cakes and the Welsh black cake, a recipe the colony brought and that has been kept from generation to generation. A guide accompanies the visit and explains the history of the valley.
