Machu Picchu — full-day tour by train

Private full-day tour from Cusco to Machu Picchu by train, with guide. Includes Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes train, ascent bus and site admission.

The day starts before dawn in Cusco, with the transfer through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo station. From there the train descends alongside the Urubamba river for an hour and a half, losing altitude as the landscape shifts from highland to the edge of the cloud forest. At Aguas Calientes, a bus climbs the switchback road in about 25 minutes to the citadel entrance.

Machu Picchu appears at around 2,430 metres altitude, on the ridge between mountains. The guided visit follows the terraces, enclosures and viewpoints of the assigned circuit over about two and a half hours. The return runs by the same route: descent bus, train to Ollantaytambo and vehicle back to Cusco, arriving at dusk. Travelling privately, the ground transfers follow the group's pace within the fixed train and admission times.
