Islas Ballestas boat cruise

Shared boat cruise to the Islas Ballestas departing from the El Chaco pier in Paracas, with guide. Speedboat circuit past the marine wildlife and the El Candelabro geoglyph.

The cruise leaves from the El Chaco pier and skirts the Paracas bay toward the north of the peninsula, where the boat slows in front of El Candelabro, a geoglyph traced on the sandy hillside. From the water, the guide explains its dimensions and the theories about its origin.

A few minutes farther on, the Islas Ballestas appear, with their rock arches and caves. Sea lion colonies rest on the ledges; over the water and among the rocks you can see pelicans, boobies, cormorants and, in season, groups of Humboldt penguins. The boat does not land: the full circuit is made from the water, around the formations, before returning to Paracas.

Operational notes

Service subject to sea conditions and to the departure time assigned by the port authority. The cruise does not include landing on the islands. Sighting of Humboldt penguins depends on the season.
