Cajón del Maipo and Embalse El Yeso
Private full-day tour to the Cajón del Maipo, with guide, from Santiago. Reaches Embalse El Yeso, high in the Andes range.
The road leaves Santiago and climbs the Maipo river valley, passing through San José de Maipo and mountain hamlets, with the range gaining height at each stretch. The last section toward Embalse El Yeso is gravel and ends at around 2,500 metres, before a sheet of turquoise water ringed by snow-capped peaks for much of the year.
As a private service, there is time to stop at the valley viewpoints and walk along the edge of the reservoir, with a guide accompanying the route and a vehicle at the group's disposal throughout the day.
