Valle de la Luna at sunset
Private mid-afternoon excursion to Valle de la Luna, inside the Reserva Nacional Los Flamencos, with guide. Viewpoints and salt formations through to sunset.
In the early afternoon the vehicle leaves San Pedro de Atacama and covers the 13 kilometres to Valle de la Luna, inside the Reserva Nacional Los Flamencos. The ground alternates between dunes, salt ledges and clay walls shaped by the wind.
Towards the last hours of light, the viewpoints face west: the rock shifts from ochre to red and the Cordillera de la Sal stands against the sky. The guide sets the pace of the walks and chooses the observation points according to the day's conditions.
