Altiplanic Lagoons, Salar de Atacama and Piedras Rojas
Private full-day excursion to the Miscanti and Miñiques altiplanic lagoons, the Salar de Atacama and Piedras Rojas, with guide. High-altitude route above 4,000 m.
The day begins with the transfer to the Salar de Atacama sector, where Laguna Chaxa gathers flamingos over a white, cracked salt crust. The route continues towards the Andean villages of Toconao and Socaire, with their cultivation terraces and adobe churches.
The road then climbs above 4,000 metres to the altiplanic lagoons of Miscanti and Miñiques, blue waters at the foot of the volcanoes. The last stop is Piedras Rojas, where iron oxide stains the rocks red beside a saline lagoon. The guide manages the effort at each stop because of the altitude.
