Chiloé Island — Ancud and Castro
Private full-day excursion to Chiloé Island, with guide, visiting Ancud and Castro. Includes the ferry crossing over the Chacao Channel.
The day begins with the drive to Pargua and the ferry crossing over the Chacao Channel, a navigation of about 30 minutes in which it is possible to see sea birds and sea lions. In Ancud the tour covers the Fuerte San Antonio, an 18th-century Spanish defence overlooking the bay. In Castro, the island's capital, the palafito houses rise on wooden stilts beside the water, and the Iglesia de San Francisco, in painted wood, is part of the Chiloé church ensemble recognised by UNESCO.
The tour is accompanied by a guide and, being a full day, involves long transfers between the island's towns.
