Frutillar and Lago Llanquihue — German Settlement Towns

Private tour from Puerto Varas to Frutillar, on the shore of Lago Llanquihue, through towns of German settlement, with guide. Admission to the German Colonial Museum included.

The route follows the shore of Lago Llanquihue from Puerto Varas northward, passing through towns founded by German families more than 150 years ago. In Frutillar, the light-fronted wooden houses face the lake, with the cone of the Osorno Volcano opposite when the sky is clear.

At the German Colonial Museum, the restored buildings show the mill, the blacksmith's house and the manor house with its period furnishings. Near the water stands the Teatro del Lago, home to the summer music festival. There is time to walk the waterfront and visit the German-tradition pastry shops, accompanied by a guide.
