Andean Crossing to Bariloche — Lake Crossing
Andean lake crossing from Puerto Varas to Bariloche on a shared service, combining catamaran and bus legs across three lakes, with guide.
The day starts early in Puerto Varas, with a first stop at Petrohué Falls before boarding the catamaran on Todos los Santos Lake. During the navigation the Osorno and Puntiagudo volcanoes come into view and, in the distance, Mount Tronador. In Peulla, a village set among Valdivian forest, there is time for lunch before the border formalities.
The route continues across the mountain range to Laguna Frías, with its deep green water, and then across Lago Nahuel Huapi, the longest leg, to Puerto Pañuelo. The day alternates three navigations and four bus legs through ancient forests and snow-capped peaks, accompanied by a guide, all the way to Bariloche.
