Lagoa da Conceição occupies the eastern heart of the island: a lagoon of around 20 km² ringed by hills, where the calm water is used for stand-up paddle and kayaking. Along Avenida das Rendeiras, the artisans keep alive the bilro lace tradition inherited from the Azorean settlers.

From the lookouts on Morro da Lagoa, the view takes in the lagoon, the dunes and the line of the open sea. The stop at Joaquina beach, with its sand dunes, rounds off the eastern route, accompanied by a guide who explains the origin and life of each point.
