Southern Archaeological Tour — Rano Raraku, Ahu Tongariki and Ahu Akahanga

Private full-day excursion along the southern coast of Isla de Pascua, with guide. Visits Ahu Akahanga, the Rano Raraku quarry and the Ahu Tongariki platform with its 15 moai.

The day follows the southeastern coast of Rapa Nui in the company of a guide. At Ahu Akahanga, toppled moai sit beside the remains of a coastal village, the place tradition associates with the burial of king Hotu Matu'a.

At the Rano Raraku volcano, the route walks among nearly 400 moai at different stages of carving, many half-buried in the quarry slope. The stop at Ahu Tongariki brings together 15 restored moai on a 22-metre platform facing the ocean, with the volcano as a backdrop.
