Orongo and Rano Kau — ceremonial village
Private half-day excursion to the Rano Kau volcano and the Orongo ceremonial village on Isla de Pascua, with guide. Covers the stone houses and the crater above the ocean.
The route climbs to the rim of the Rano Kau volcano, whose crater of nearly one and a half kilometres across holds a lagoon dotted with reeds. From the viewpoint, the Motu Nui, Motu Iti and Motu Kao Kao islets stand off the coast.
At the Orongo village, in the company of a guide, the visit follows the oval houses built of stone slabs, set above the sea, where the Tangata Manu birdman competition once took place.
