The tour enters the Machu Picchu citadel along one of the official circuits, with an entry time booked in advance. Accompanied by a guide, the route runs in a single direction across agricultural terraces, stone enclosures and plazas at around 2,430 metres of altitude, with views toward the Urubamba river canyon and the peaks surrounding the sanctuary.

The pace adjusts to the group, with stops where the reading of the site and photography work best. The layout does not allow backtracking, so the visit follows the sequence set by the assigned circuit.
