Machu Picchu Mountain — Ascent

Ascent of Machu Picchu mountain with guide, combined with the citadel tour along the circuit giving access to the route. Admission with assigned entry time is included.

The day combines the citadel tour with the ascent of Machu Picchu mountain, the peak that rises to the south of the sanctuary. The trail climbs gradually along stone steps to around 3,060 metres, gaining height over the archaeological complex up to a panorama that takes in the citadel, the Huayna Picchu hill opposite and the Urubamba valley.

The route is longer than Huayna Picchu and of a more sustained gradient. The ascent shift is fixed on the ticket and the daily quota is limited. Accompanied by a guide, the pace adjusts to the altitude and the stops on the climb.
