Santiago gathers Chile's urban life and the backdrop of the Andes in a single valley. Hills such as San Cristóbal and Santa Lucía frame the city, while historic neighbourhoods and nearby vineyards round out the stop. It is the usual gateway to the country and a base for excursions to Valparaíso and the mountains.
Spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) offer mild weather and clear skies. Summer is hot and dry; the cooler winter opens skiing at the nearby Andean resorts.
Two days are enough for the historic centre, the neighbourhoods and the city viewpoints. Adding an excursion to Valparaíso and Viña del Mar, or to a Maipo Valley winery, calls for one extra day each.
San Cristóbal and Santa Lucía hills; the Plaza de Armas and the historic centre; the Lastarria and Bellavista districts; and the Maipo Valley wineries, a short distance from the city.
Two to three nights as the base of any Chilean programme. Day one settles the city; day two is a choice between Valparaíso and the vineyards, and they are two different days that should not be stacked into one.
Four to eight weeks outside January. For the March and April harvest, two to three months.
Valparaíso is a full day with a real drive each way: adding a winery to it is how the day stops working. In winter the ski areas are an hour away, which makes the city a snow base.
We coordinate city tours, winery visits and transfers with licensed local suppliers and sell net rates to the agency. As a connecting hub, we align transfers with the actual timing of international flights.
Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see an indicative retail “from” price; the net rate is never shown outside the agency portal.
Most bookings are confirmed immediately and the voucher is emailed within minutes. When a service shows “In process”, RUMBO LIBRE is confirming final availability with the receptive operator at destination — usually within 24 to 48 business hours.
Cancellations follow Clause 7 of the Terms: more than 30 days before the service, no penalty and a full refund; 15 to 30 days, 25%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 75%; less than 72 hours before commencement or a no-show, 100%. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. The schedule above is indicative: the conditions that apply to each booking are those confirmed in the quotation, and may be stricter in high season, on public holidays or where a supplier applies its own policy.
Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed with the receptive operator subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
